Credit: Governor Ron DeSantis FLORIDA, USA — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a newly redrawn congressional map into law, finalizing changes to the state’s district boundaries that are expected to have significant political implications ahead of upcoming elections. DeSantis announced the signing in a social media post saying, "Signed, Sealed, and Delivered." The map was first shared with Fox News prior to the special session. Florida State Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith wrote on X, "The fact that the Governor shared his illegally-rigged Congressional map with {Fox News} before sharing it with state senators voting on them TOMORROW shows how partisan and illegitimate this process is." Florida lawmakers met in a special session last week to discuss the new map. Florida's state House approved the bill 83-28 on April 29. As the bill was approved, state Rep. Angie Nixon could be seen and heard taking to the aisles of the chambers with a megaphone protesting the bill.  The Florida Senate voted 21-17 to approve the bill and sent it to the governor's desk.  The new map is expected to flip a handful of districts from Democrat to Republican helping the GOP retain control of the U.S. House ahead of the midterm elections in November.
