Rain and lightning scrambled up the high school football schedule in Week 8, with multiple games postponed and rescheduled as Hurricane Isais makes its way towards Florida. The Varsity 4 Game of the Week between Middleburg and Orange Park was postponed at the start of the third quarter with the Broncos leading 15-13. The teams plan to finish in the coming weeks. It was the same story between Clay and Fleming Island with the Blue Devils up 11-6 before weather caused the postponement. That game will be completed either Nov. 3 or 4. No. 4 Ed White hammered Ribault 52-7 to set up a huge clash in Week 9 against No. 2 Columbia. That game will determine the District 3-4A title. Nease topped host Fletcher 31-27 to win a crucial District 2-5A game and stay in the district race. The Panthers (4-3) need to keep winning and hope for Mandarin to drop games against Bartram Trail and Beachside to try and emerge with an unlikely district crown.
