Tracking the Tropics: Keeping an eye on a new area of disturbance in the Atlantic

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring one disturbance in the central subtropical Atlantic, located more than 1,000 miles east-southeast of Bermuda. Right now, development is not expected in the short term because strong upper-level winds are keeping showers and storms disorganized. Over the next few days, the system is forecast to move west-northwest across the central subtropical Atlantic, where conditions may become a little more favorable for gradual development by the middle to late part of the week. Formation chances remain low, near 0% over the next 48 hours and 30% over the next 7 days. At this time, there is no immediate threat to Northeast Florida or Southeast Georgia, but we’ll continue to monitor it through the week.
