A Jacksonville couple is facing felony charges after authorities say they traveled from central Florida to sell a kilogram of cocaine in Jacksonville.The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit Major Case Section launched a long-term investigation into Harry Cruz-Gonzalez, 38, and Maria Pena-Rosario, 34, on suspicion the two were trafficking cocaine. On Wednesday, July 22, detectives say they received information the couple was traveling from central Florida to Jacksonville with a kilogram of cocaine to sell.On Thursday, July 23, narcotics detectives say they stopped Cruz-Gonzalez and Pena-Rosario at a hotel in the Southpoint area. Investigators say a search of their vehicle turned up a kilogram of cocaine hidden in a trap built into the car. Detectives also found more than $2,300 in cash.Both Cruz-Gonzalez and Pena-Rosario were arrested on charges of Trafficking in Cocaine.
